As said in The Dungeon Master, "I reject your reality and substitute my own”. This quote is dear to me in that I feel my life and the events that have transpired within it, lead me astray from the path that everyone, myself included, thought it was going to lead to; taking into account my small, poverty-stricken hometown. My name is Oscar Chavez and I have future hopes to enter the game industry. I graduated from the University of Tampa with a B.A in History and a minor in Philosophy on an Army ROTC scholarship. Simultaneously, I commissioned as an officer in the Army Military Police Corps. But I have always wanted to get a Game Design degree from Fullsail ever since I first seen their ads in the GamePro magazines. So I decided to go back to school to pursue my dream that I could not attain when I was younger due to my family’s financial struggles. Though it has not been easy along the way. There have been a few instances of racing the clock to turn in assignments and sleepless nights wondering what the grade book would show the next day. But I pushed through regardless of my having Army battle assemblies and it cutting short my turn in time, working five days a week on twelve-hour shifts or needing to resist the siren's call of a great new game that I have been wanting to play. This dedication is what lead me to graduate from Fullsail University September 2017 with a 3.5 GPA. Now I just need someone to give me a shot so I can show them the great asset I could make to any team or project.
